A4U Expo Opens Tomorrow

AbeBooks will be at the A4U Expo happening tomorrow October 25th and Friday the 26th in London, it looks like a fantastic events with loads of great topics and speakers.  I am particularly interested in a couple of the sessions just from their title such as "How many ways can you skin a cat?" and "How Much Affiliate Marketing is Enough?".  The A4U team is also hosting the first ever awards for the UK industry, please take time to vote, there are some great nominations.

Reality TV hits Online Marketing!

It has taken a few years, but Reality TV has finally hit the world of Online Marketing.  Joel Comm, an Internet Marketer from the USA, who has a best selling book, sold a website to yahoo, and is an Adsense guru has created and produced The Next Internet Millionaire.  The show is based on a similar format to that of other business related reality television series like The Apprentice.  I have only watched the first 10 minutes, however it has impressed me, the comes across as very professional and I think I will be watching the other 40 minutes.

The Hitflip Guys

While in London, I met up with a couple of guys from Hitflip, Andre Alpar one of the managing directors/ founders (Andre also gave a great presentation, once I have the link I will send it around) and Adam Finlayson,  General Manager for UK.  If you have not had the chance to visit their site Hitflip, give it a try it is a very cool concept and I am excited to see it grow in the UK!

Paid on Results Network Blog

Paid on Results appears to be the first UK network with a blog.  This is great to see! Another communication channel opening up for Networks to communicate with Merchants and Affiliates.  I hope to see all networks follow suit, network communication or lack of network communication has always being a major concern of mine and I am glad to see this change.

Support for "A Story for Easter"

Jess Luthi of Affiliate Program Advice, made a great post late last week "A story for Easter"  in which she highlights the need for networks to improve the communication channels between Affiliates and Merchants.  I could not agree more with her, I think communication or the lack of, is one of the biggest drawbacks to using the networks.  As I have discussed many times in the past with various networks,  they always seem to have great excuses as to why they don't want to improve the communication channels, however, I never buy them.  I wish the Networks could see, improving the Merchant and Affiliate communication channels, will not just benefit the Merchants and Affiliates but also the networks, the biggest being they will earn more revenue which they always seem to be after.  As Jess points out, the majority of Merchants are not interested in scraping affiliate data, we are just interested in easily and quickly contacting with our Affiliates.

BUMPzee

I am not sure if any of you have seen the relatively new site BUMPzee, created by longtime industry leader Scott Jangro.  This is a "Digg" style site focused on Affiliate Marketing.  How the site works is users vote or rate blogs posts by "bumping" them and then on the BUMPzee homepage there is a list of the top- rated posts.  This is a really cool site and seems to be getting lots of traction from some of the top minds in Affiliate Marketing from the UK and US.
